September iDEA Trainings

Posted by Emily in iDEA

This week the iDEA team wrapped up our first round of monthly trainings with the Ogden, Ben Lomond, and Salt Lake City teacher cohorts.  It was wonderful to see the teachers again!

Teachers shared their experiences implementing the first unit of the new iDEA curriculum - Filmmaking Bootcamp.  They shared nine sentence stories written by students and brainstormed the best ways to support their students as they turn their written stories into movies.

The iDEA team looks forward to seeing all the iDEA teachers next month.

Happy filmmaking!

My week with IDEA at Fort Douglas

Posted by carolanneday in iDEA

This has been a great week of learning and networking.   We were able to jump through all the hoops between pc and Mac land!   We were touched by the student documentaries and laughed at the stop motion movies.  A real highlight was our quest speakers  especially meeting Kochi from Calcutta one of the photo journalist who starred in "Born into Brothels"

Now as we enter the last half hour we are celebrating exporting our rough cut for tomorrow's preview.

I would like to express my thanks to the Beverly Taylor Sorensen foundation for funding this great week.

Spy Hop Training

Posted by leddy_loo in iDEA , Classroom Examples

This week has been very insightful for me.  I have a renewed interest in getting my students involved in creating and making movies.  It will be great to integrate this knowledge into literacy and the sciences.  It will be a great technique for transferring knowledge and applying it. The conference has been an amazing tool to take back with me to my school and classroom!

Spy Hop Training

I have learned numerous techniques using the technology this week to take back to the classroom. This conference has changed the way I think about integrating technology. It's easier than I thought!!! The film making process itself can be tied into core content in almost every area. Learning is a step by step process that takes time and hard work, but the end result is something to be proud of! :)
